![]() ![]() Kammattipadam is for those who love to garner some thrill through the ways of mobster squads and their rip-roaring life stories.Synopsis The film begins when Vasudeva Shenoy (Anoop Menon), a police constable by profession, proposes to his colleague Lakshmi (Lena) with a strong objection from Vasudeva Shenoy's mother. In the second half, the film does get a bit dragging with the quest of the protagonist getting nowhere. Dulquer seems to have done his best in all the varied avatars he appears in, and so have the rest of the actors, including the leading ladies Shaun Romy and Amalda Liz. The character is similar to many roles he has played previously in M-Town, but he sure is the go-to guy when it comes to playing a Kochi-based thug, proves the actor. It’s Vinayakan who steals the show for most parts, with his splendid portrayal of gangster Ganga. The relatively new faces that play the rugged characters fit into the setting of the lawless land with ease, convincing acting. Otherwise, the casting is spot on and the milieu is showcased well, the plot and music brim with unexpected energy. It’s close to 3 hours and has a good storyline, with enough potential to get viewers emotionally invested in its characters for most parts.įair warning, not everyone might find the story’s setting and violent content indulgent enough. The movie’s central characters are men with a twisted moral compass, thanks to the explosive, violent atmosphere they grow up in filled with thugs and crime. The story spans over several years, starting from the childhood of the key characters, with many minor to key events shaping the plot at various junctures. Intrigued, Krishan leaves for Kammattipadam where the two grew up. Ganga also hints that his life is in danger. One day, he receives a call from his childhood friend Ganga (Vinayakan), who asks Krishnan to come back to Kerala. Krishnan (Dulquer Salmaan) works in Mumbai as a security officer, and has been keeping away from his family and friends in Kerala for long. Shot largely in a naturalistic mode, it also analyses what happens when their personal and gangster phases collide, through fascinating characters.
